St.Sargis Church in Vostan is located in Vostan village, Ararat region, Republic of Armenia. The church was founded in 1833 from a rustic stone, wood, cane-cover. The church, like all the modern churches in the Soviet era, was seized from the priest and used for other purposes and eventually the bell tower was completely crouched and the roof was partially crouched. The church is still facing this undue situation.
This and all other situations that the churches are facing are our national shame, illegality, our wound, our way of repentance. We have to restore them. Being inspired by this thought a woman from Vostan village, who had identical opinions with the village headman and the school headmaster, applied for “Let’s Repent by Building” our church building project.
The restoration works began in 2015. First a solid reinforcement of the foundation was made. In the future we are intending to carry out a complete repair by retaining the old appearance and the environment.
